TECNAM P2010: New Carbon Fibre Four-Seater
With TECNAM CEO Paola Pascale at the controls, the first engine run has taken place of the new TECNAM P Twenty-Ten at the Capua, Italy factory. Soon to be certified the P Twenty-Ten is constructed with a carbon fibre fuselage and has metal wings and control surfaces. Using a 180hp Lycoming IO-360 engine, projected speed and range includes a 75% power cruise of 130 knots for a nil wind range of almost 700 nautical miles. Initial projections by TECNAM show a useful load of 460 kg and an approximate fly-away price in Australia of around $300,000. First flight is anticipated by the end of March 2012 and for those attending Aero 2012 at Friedrichshafen on April 18th, the P Twenty-Ten will have pride of place on the TECNAM stand. The new
P92 Tail Dragger achieved a successful first flight late December 2011.
This is latest
edition to the Tecnam P92 family of aircraft - The Tecnam P92 Tail Dragger
(P92TD)
Tecnam believe that many existing Tail Dragger operators and
pilots are keen to change their existing models for a new and modern aircraft.
Tecnam P92 Tail Dragger customers will be able to power their aircraft with one
of three engines; the Rotax 912ULS2, the Rotax 914 Turbo (not USA) or the Lycoming
O-233 engine.
Market research is showing an over 50% preference for
tail wheel compared with standard configuration airplanes within the worldwide GA
pilot community. Other findings included a 60% preference for side by side
seats (very few legacy tail draggers offer this cabin configuration) and 70% of
pilots indicated that they preferred a metal vs. fabric constructed aircraft!
‘’This Tail Dragger version of the Tecnam P92 is the first new aircraft
this particular marketplace has seen in a very long time and promises its
owners and pilots significantly improved flight characteristics’’ said Paolo Pascale, Tecnam’s Managing Director. ‘With the introduction of
our 5th generation P92 Eaglet in 2011 and our P92 Sea-Sky Hydroplane
earlier this month, we know our customers really appreciate the continuing
innovations and improvements we are making to our P92 range of aircraft.’’
A glider tow hook is offered as optional equipment as well as oversize main wheels and an optional under-belly cargo pod rated at 40kg. A second baggage compartment with an external door is standard. TECNAM Australia's demonstrator will ship in May 2010.
