PRESS RELEASE 25 May 2009
NAPLES, Italy/May 25, 2009 - TECNAM "Quality Aircraft since 1948"
The long awaited certification date of the TECNAM P2006T has finally arrived. After meticulous testing and a thorough review of all of the required documentation, EASA has bestowed a Type Certificate on the Tecnam P2006T.
The focus of the Luigi and Paolo Pascale and staff of Tecnam has been on this certification project. After being enthusiastically received at the AERO Show in Friedrichshafen, Germany in 2007, Tecnam put all of their resources on the project culminating in the certification on May 25th 2009. The plan by the management team of Tecnam has been to certify the analogue version initially of the P2006T with the Garmin G950 version to follow shortly thereafter. This will allow Tecnam to start the fulfilment process of the numerous orders received to date. Tecnam has already manufactured over 10 of the analogue versions of the P2006T and will now be able to start the delivery process. New orders of the P2006T are arriving weekly with the total orders quickly approaching 100.
The P2006T is a twin-engine four-seat aircraft with fully retracting landing gear. The superior high-wing configuration offers stability, superior cabin visibility and easy access for passengers and luggage. TECNAM has used its extensive experience with aluminium airframes to create the TECNAM P2006T. The P2006T has an outstanding payload-to-total-weight ratio by utilizing a robust yet very light airframe. The design which incorporates 2 Rotax 912 engines will revolutionize the small multiengine aircraft market by providing higher margins of safety due to the twin engine formula and significantly lower operating costs even relative to comparable performance single engine aircraft. The P2006T is lighter, roomier, and more economical than most single engine four seat aircraft yet has the benefits of being a twin. Add the ability to use premium automotive fuel and the cost savings and overall operational costs and benefits become that much more significant.
"We have been enthusiastic about this project since the onset. We recognized a large gap in the twin market. There have been very few new entries into this market in many years and we have heard from all around the world their existing aircraft are becoming increasingly expensive to maintain. Prior to the P2006T the acquisition of a new twin has become too expensive for most operators forcing them to make difficult if not impossible choices. Now there is a more rational choice for these flight school operators - the P2006T. Today, we are delighted to receive this TC from EASA and we are looking forward to the completion of the Glass Cockpit version and feel this is the beginning of the 'New Age of General Aviation ", as commented by Mr. Luigi Pascale Langer - President of Tecnam and Mr. Paolo Pascale - C.E.O. of TECNAM.
